General presentation of the profession

The responsibilities of the Head of Human Resources cover all human relations in the company.
In concrete terms, they supervise social relations, i.e. the dialogue with social partners (trade unions, work councils, staff representatives, etc.), administration and personnel management, training and internal communication.
Placed directly under the supervision of the Managing Director, they propose a human resources management policy and draw up the terms and conditions of its implementation.

It’s in this way that they analyse the human needs of the company, and give instructions to head recruiters to select the candidates likely to be an asset to the workforce.
The Head of Human Resources also organises the career management of the company’s employees, their professional development and their progress in the company.

Their services also ensure the administrative monitoring of employees (leave, contracts, pay, illness…)

Job prospects

HR directors can broaden their job role, including administrative or financial management, or they could even be promoted to the general management of the company. A number of them change their tack and become consultants in human resources consulting practices.

Salary range

The gross annual salary ranges from approximately €80,000 to €150,000
